The Technical Review Committee (TRC) is an administrative review board comprised of representatives from multiple departments within the county and the state that play some role in the overall approval of commercial or larger scale development within the county. Included in this board are representatives from Planning, Building Inspections, Health, Addressing, Fire and Emergency Services, the Department of Transportation, Parks and Recreation, and the Soil and Water Conservancy as necessary. A member of the Alamance County Planning Board also sits on these reviews to inform the board of ongoing developments within the county.
Any commercial or large residential development (anything requiring the creation of a new road) should submit an application to the Planning Department with a set of plans for review. This can be done in person or be emailing planning@alamancecountync.gov. Payment for the TRC fee can be made over the phone or in person. To make it onto a scheduled TRC meeting, please submit the application, plans, and pay the review fee on or before the specified due date. If you are unsure that a project needs TRC approval or not, please contact the Planning Department for more information.
